Exhibition runs until 23rd December 2018

Belinda Ormond takes inspiration from architectural and organic forms, weaving together Cape Town’s layered history, social geographies and natural treasures in her newest solo project Shape Town, an exhibition of ceramic sculptures.

The Protea kingdom, the passing whales, the leaning pines on Devil’s Peak, the clouds which race over Table Mountain in summer, the Kalk Bay fishing vessels, places of worship, our guardian lighthouses, and the city skyline, amongst other recognisable forms, have been sculptured into free standing ceramic poems.

Ormond says of her work:

“I enjoy the constant challenge of materialising the objects that rise up in my imagination; for this reason my work changes course as my efforts follow my inspiration. I like to think my work is a balance between the practical and the fanciful.”

Nestled between quiet Chelsea Village and bustling Wynberg, Hamilton Gallery & Showroom is a viewing platform for the creations of artists and artisans. If you have an eye for interiors, a passion for art, and if a tranquil setting strikes your fancy, be sure to visit us and this remarkable exhibition.

Norgarb Properties - Southern Suburbs is proud to be sponsoring and supporting the Child Carer Safety Awareness Training run by HVCID and SAPS.

Child carers are a very important part of the Harfield Village community and you will often see them pushing strollers and carrying toddlers to and from the parks. They feed and clean the kids and keep them safe from danger. Many child carers travel long distances to work often leaving and arriving home late and after dark. Local crime stats clearly illustrate how women are targeted by criminals every day in South Africa and it is so important to ensure that the woman in charge of looking after our kids is provided with information and tools to keep both herself and the children safe. #16daysofactivismagainstviolenceagainstwomenandchildren

The details of the event are as follow:

Date: Thursday, 29 November 2018

Time: 10h30 – 11h30

Venue: Surrey Park, Harfield Village

Platter evenings consist of working in wet clay that has been placed in a mould or on a board. Decorate your own platter with a design/style of your choice, using stamps to create a pattern, by drawing freely or building out with clay. Choose a cheese platter or large round platter, prices below. – these are so popular as they provide a wonderful canvas to work on.
Platter evenings take place at my studio, which is set in a beautiful garden and can seat 10 adults. Bring some friends and create together, or come on your own to make something special! Enjoy your evening with a glass of wine or a drink of your choice and some delicious snacks designed especially by my husband.

The next platter evenings will take place:

  • Thursday 22nd November (7 - 10 pm)
  • Friday 30th November ( 7 - 10 pm )
  • Saturday 1st December  (11.30 am - 2.30 pm)
  • Thursday 13th December (7 - 10 pm)

24 Meyer Street, Claremont, just off of Rosmead Ave.

The cost of the evening is covered by the price of the platter/cheese platter you chose – see prices below.
Please bring your own drinks.
